CHESTNUTS - Anyone who knows us well knows that we have a passion for chestnuts! They were our first variety and continue to be the most popular bunch in the barn! We recently lost our top chestnut, Robbie, but we have children & grandchildren from him in the barn who we have high hopes for. We also have a couple of other fantastic chestnut herd sires who are producing well. We have several very nice chestnut does, many that are young seniors recently started into the breeding program. We also have a few promising juniors coming up who will be hitting the show tables soon!
OPALS - There's just nothing like a beautiful opal that has great type and nice opal coloring, including that hard-to-achieve gorgeous opal ring color and dark nails. We've had opals since the beginning and they are always a challenge. When you get one like our Yin, it just makes you want to keep working on them! Yin is our beautiful opal sr. buck who earned 16 GC legs in his show career, and now resides in Japan where he is helping a great Japanese breeder. Turbo, our cute little broken opal buck, is one of Yin's descendents!
CHINCHILLAS - Our newest variety in the barn is chinchilla. We're just getting started, so we haven't had any to show yet, but hopefully by Fall 2009 you might see something on the show table from our chin program. We recently acquired PAC's Blue Moon (above) to be the herd sire for our chins, so we're excited about getting him to work!
BROKENS - Broken NDs were approved for showing as a recognized variety as of February 2007. We've been working on our brokens for about three years now. In April 2007, Nathan won Youth BOG-Group 5 at the ND Nationals in Ventura with Turbo, his GC broken opal buck. An exciting accomplishment for the first national showing of broken NDs! Brokens are a real challenge because you're striving not only for excellent type (as always!), but a nicely patterned rabbit with correct, clean color in the colored areas. They are quite beautiful and always attract attention when Group 5 is up for judging! Our broken program is coming along nicely, and we are starting to get more nice show-quality brokens to put on the show table. |
